August’s theme is Own Your Awesome and Stay Humble AF, paired with the The Pause Between Two Breaths breath which highlights the power of the breath to release your creative self.
In our everyday lives, we are steeped in messages to deny, mistrust, and even sacrifice our God-self. To give you an example of this messaging, I highlight my recent experience of watching the first episode of Manifest on Netflix with my husband and teenage son. In it, a supernatural phenomenon happens: a plane takes off, goes through turbulence, and then lands 5 years in the future. While re-integrating into their lives and relationships, some of the main characters experience a voice inside their head they recognize as their own, giving them messages. In my world, this is called intuition.
In the show, the character’s intuition is so physically jarring it makes them cry out and clutch their heads, prompting other characters to ask if they are ok. They hesitate to act on their intuition for fear they will be viewed as crazy. When they do share what is happening for them, their loved ones reinforce this fear by saying, “Don’t tell anyone else or you’ll end up in a psych ward.” And to top it off, their intuition asks them to put themselves in harm’s way and to put others before themselves in order to do good.
Besides the recognition of a God-self, every aspect of the characters’ experiences with intuition is a distortion or inversion of my own experience. The voice within communicates with kindness, gentleness, and graciousness providing comfort, not distress. In my journey to nurture my intuition, I have had people express their fear or incredulousness of this gift. That tested my commitment to myself.
When I passed this test and kept going, I experienced ever-increasing abundance, safety, and love from within myself. That is one way to know you are following intuition instead of ego. You develop an unshakeable faith in yourself. I have also experienced standing up, speaking out, and being compelled into action from a clearer state of God-surrender instead of ego-control. God-surrender includes your well-being and does not ask you to put yourself in harm’s way unnecessarily.
I chose to cherish and develop my intuition through oracle training, meditation and sacred relating practices regardless of what others thought about it. You can choose to cherish and develop your intuition as well. The choice is yours. I highly recommend that you invest in yourself and find the practices and people that allow you to develop this essential life skill.
It requires dedication over time. It requires Olympic-level practice, perseverance, fortitude, strength, and courage. The reward is honoring God in a world that seeks to disempower and nullify God through inversion and distortion, the least of which is a seemingly innocuous television show.
This month’s breath is a powerful tool to help you gather your God-given soul expression with the intention of creatively expressing it in the world for the benefit of yourself and the world. It really will help you release your creative genius. Own your awesome and stay humble.
