The power of the breath to fill you with radiance and strength
Find a quiet place, feel from distraction. Lie down comfortably on your back. Close your eyes and mouth, and simply follow your breathing for a minute or two.
Focus on your inhalations. As you breathe in through your nose, make space for the breath to travel down to your navel, and then feel the inhalation filling your torso up to the top of your chest (allow your belly and chest to expand), all the way to your collarbones.
If you sense that there is any tension inhibiting your from reaching full capacity, rub your hands together very gently, creating heat and friction. Draw them about an inch apart, feel the radiant energy in between and then place them on whichever part you need to release.
Now focus on your exhalations. As you breathe out, feel the breath moving back to the point behind your navel. At the end of your exhalation, contract your abdominal muscles to bring your belly in toward your spine and draw your pelvic floor up. Concentrate on your strength and power.
Practice 20-30 breaths in which the breath moves from a point behind the navel up to the collarbones on the inhalations and back down on the exhalation. Let these full breaths fan your internal fire, filling you up with personal magnetism.

What sensations do you notice in your abdominal area?
Allow your breath to return to normal. Roll over onto your right side. Open your eyes, resting in that position for a few moments and then come back up to a seated position.
What other descriptions, words, impressions come to your mind about your breath. Make note of them and feel free to be creative. Take a few minutes to continue your exploration and then slowly and gently roll to one side and come to a seated position.
Practice the Emptiness breath for 10-15 minutes a day throughout March to allow time and space to see what happens. You may find it helpful to keep a journal of what you feel like before, during and after each breathing session.

These breathing exercises are highlighted from the book Breathing Space by Katrina Repka and Alan Finger. They are gentle and safe, but please check in with yourself and follow your own intuition before doing them.
