January's theme is Self-care isn't Selfish paired with the Discovery breath which helps you learn about the power of the breath to reduce anxiety and tension.
An image that has repeatedly come to me in meditation is that each human, each and every one of us, can be seen as a cell in the body of Christ. In order for the body of humanity to grow, function and thrive into the Glory that it is, it is the responsibility and right of every person to take care of ourselves as best as we can. When we light up individually with the love of our self-care, we light up the whole.
This image helps me understand that self-care isn't optional, it's necessary. It's important to prioritize it as part of our divine inheritance to love ourselves. I hold the wisdom of this message within me as, "Self-Care is Divine."
A powerful self-care tool that I have incorporated into my own spiritual practice is breath. It has benefited me by calming my nervous system, allowing responsible release of what no longer serves, and lovingly making space for new thoughts and emotions.
There is nothing more sacred than our breath, it is our life force. It brings our spirit into form, it is with us throughout our life, and the ceasing of breath signals our spirit is leaving form. Breath is often referred to as the Breath of God or the Breath of Life.
People everywhere have experienced restricted breathing this year with the mask mandates currently in place. It is my intention that this breathing circle help support us in breathing more fully to support ourselves and counteract the effects of that restriction.
This month's breath can help you discover the power of your own breath and its ability to reduce anxiety and tension in your body. Find the description and supportive resources for it, HERE.
